I want to add an additional 2 bulb, 4' light next to my current one. It's just a cheap 4', 2 bulb t-8 wrap around fixture. Would I use the punch out on the side & connect them with romex so they work on the same switch (exposed) OR do i need a junction box installed inside the ceiling? I need it to be up to code in the Houston area. Thanks.

Sometimes simpler is better, if it would look professional I would use MC cable.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking after my post...Can I just use the 3/8" knock out on the side of the fixtures & leave everything exposed or do I have to connect the junction boxes?

You can hook them together, its a good way to do it. I like to use 14 to connect them to the supply wire, orange wire nuts connect to all that little fixture wire.

Use connectors to attach the MC cable to the two fixtures.

Thanks for the advice; thats what I did today & tried 6500k Phillips 2850 lights. Pleased with the results but 5000k might have been a better choice if it wasn't blue/grey in my garage. Makes the walls & floor pop a little...Anyway, I about doubled the amount of lights in there but I think I'll redo later with solid pipe instead of MC.
