Adding additional circuits

I need to add a couple of extra circuits. We have a sump pump that does not have it's own circuit and is being fed from a exterior outlet via an extension cord. There is room in the panel so I am going to add a 20amp breaker and run 12ga wire to the room where the pump is. This one should be fairly straight forward as there is already conduit to that room. I will be able to run romex to the existing junction box and then THNN from there through the conduit. Fishing the wall above the panel and the garage wall to the junction box will be the hardest part.

The other circuit I need to add is for some basement outlets. Right now they are being fed from the furnace circuit. These outlets have my server and a bunch on other equipment on them so I want it separate from the furnace. What I want to do is pull romex from the panel through the attic and then drop down the wall in the garage. I cant fish this wall so I was going to run conduit from the ceiling down the wall to the spot where I have access to the basement. Since the conduit is being used to protect the romex is this ok?

Any other suggestions?

You need to not over fill the conduit when using Romex. The circular area of Romex is calculated by using the largest dimension of the cable.

Just take heed of the NEC code fill capacity. Out here (Chicago and most suburbs) it is against code to use Romex anywhere, and double secret probation against code to run it inside EMT. In the Chicagoland area, things have varying degrees of legal or illegal. These degrees are determined based on how deep your pocket$ are.
