Adding casters to shop chair?

I have an older shop chair with metal tube legs.
The kind you can't find anymore so I refuse to get rid of it.
The problem is it doesn't have casters. I want to add them, but can't really find any way to do it.
Tried a dowel that fit snug and threaded inserts. That eventually broke.

These are my favorite kinds but don't really exist for smaller tube diameters.

These aren't nearly as sturdy but will be fine for a chair and they're widely available for smaller tube diameters.
