So, the thread title kinda says it all. I have two 20ton bottle jacks that I would like to tie together for my press project and run them on air. Or as an option have the pump on one jack operate both jacks together. Anyone know how to do this?

I know Harbor Fright and others sell air over jacks, but they are very spendy and I already have these two.

Why not manufacture a plate to fit both pumps so you can operate both jacks in one go.

Now why didn't I think of that?:shocking: As soon as I read your post I started envisioning a foot pedal that runs across the bottom of the press with reach rods up to the jacks. My only concern with this is will the jacks actually be in synch?

I'd still like to know the answer to my original ?

They should be in synch with them being identical, but then you've got another problem to solve regarding releasing both jacks together afterwards, thats the awkward bit.

Also you could use just one jack with a sprung balanced beam has another option.

I've seen these air operated bottle jacks before being used by mobile tyre fitters, but never actually took much interest into them. Trying to pair two air operated jacks together will cause problems with gauging the air to pump both in synch.

Releasing them could be an issue, might have to up with larger "T" handles on the release valve. The jacks are only about 3.5' apart, so that's an easy reach.

As far as tying them together with air and synching them together, that's the easy part. The air will automatically equalize the pressure on both jacks. Imagine a "T" or "Y" fitting. One air in, two air out to the jacks, pressure is equal so jacks "should" be in synch.

Thanx for your suggestions!

Thats okay & I see where your coming from with the "T" & "Y" fittings, good luck with your build & post up some pics of it
