Hi

So, when building a detached garage and bringing electricity to it from the house...

is the electrical usually brought up from the floor so I should have a line run out there before they pour the frost walls and floor

or

can i lay the line after they do all the concrete work and bring it in through a stick wall?

thanks!

I brought mine up through the floor just inside the wall and in retrospect if I were to do it again I would bring it up through a conduit in the middle of the wall so it would be a straight shot up into the sub-panel. It would make for a cleaner install with hidden conduit.

My garage is very close to the house. When we brought the electricity over we did it via the mast on the main roof to a new mast on the garage.

I would do it in the foundation....

I ran a 3/4" PVC condit under the forms prior to concrete pour....the PVC pops up on the stem wall and I mounted the breaker panel above it. Everything is in the wall....

In retrospect, I wish I had used 1.5" PVC. But at least I ran a second one for low voltage stuff (Cable & Ethernet)

If I were to do it again....PVC in the wall....1.5" and I would have ran one or two extra lines with the ends caped off in the dirt.

You can do it via hanging it in the air or underground.

If you do it in the ground you can do it now, before the pour or after. After will be more work as you will have to core out some concrete and break it out to run the conduit.

depends on what building codes will allow you to do.
