Are there limitations to adding a subpanel off of a subpanel? In my new building, I have a 100 A sub being fed from my first garage. Within this new building, I will have machines located such that it would be best having another subpanel close to their location. So in effect, it will be a subpanel off a subpanel. Any code problems with that? The building is 56 x 64, so it would limit the amount of long wire runs.

It's okay to run a sub off of a sub. Just be mindful of the loads so that you don't create a problem for yourself with constant tripping of the sub feed breaker back in the primary panel.

Thanks. I'll be taking a 240V breaker off the first sub to supply the second and I try to balance loads as well as I can. Thanks again.
