Adding Garage Carriage Lights

I'm adding 2 carriage lights outside the garage door. I have a conveniently located outlet inside the garage that isn't being used for anything that I'll pull power from. I don't want to do a lot of drywall cutting and repair so I plan on using a box extender and surface mount conduit to the light locations. I'm going to cut small holes in the drywall at each light location so I can install mounting boxes from the inside without messing with the outside stucco. What's best way to get from the conduit to the mounting boxes? Put a surface mounted box on the drywall directly behind and connect the two boxes with a ******? Run conduit through the drywall from the mounting box and then right angle into a T type pull box? Other options? Thanks.

So you are going to cut 4 inch holes in the stucco, open up the drywall inside and mount a octagon box from the inside so it is flush with the outside? And all wiring inside will be in conduit? so yes, I would stub out the back of the box with conduit and once your drywall is repaired inside, I would do a surface mounted box and bring the conduit stub into the back of it. Do this on both lights, connect the boxes with conduit and mount a box for the switch and use a extension ring on the receptacle for power

Yes Terry, you described exactly what I'm planning. Thanks for the confirmation on how to connect it all.

There won't be a switch, just a photocell mounted in it's own rectangular box using the same method.

Take pics please when you're done, I planned on doing the same thing, well sort of. I have one exterior light on the left side of the garage, guess the builder was too cheap to install the second one. Planned on pulling power from the first and running conduit along the inside of the garage (not in the wall) and then mounting a box for the 2nd (new) light.

They do make these old work octagon boxes. You might be able to just cut your 4 inch hole outside and just mount these with a conduit stub out the back. Then you would not have to cut the drywall inside to put blocking in. just drill a hole for the stub.
