Adding garage overhead door

Who would you call to have a garage door installed in a detached two car garage? It currently does not have an opening for an overhead door and the couple garage door companies I have talked to don't do the actual cutting and framing to make the hole. I'm in north east Dallas, TX.

You will need a framing carpenter with a helper. Maybe your neighbors will know one that is trust worthy or a co-worker has a reference for one. Then, there is the internet with Angies' list and Home Advisor's as a last resort I guess. good luck

Yes, definetly need a framing carpenter. If I can ask, how is it that one has a garage without an opening.....or does it have carriage doors now? Good luck.

It's basically a large detached workshop if you will. It's about 560 sq ft with a 36 inch entry door. The back of the garage opens up to alley so I would like to have concrete poured leading into the garage and a large overhead door installed. Since our driveway is only one car wide in the front I park at the curb and people can't stop hitting my truck even though I park it as close to the curb as humanly possible.

This way it's easier to get my bikes in and out plus she can park her car in the garage and my truck will go in the driveway.

I would talk to a licensed builder that can look at your plans (if you have them) to determine the structural integrity of the walls/roof. A decent header will have to go in to match the roof loads.

Also permitting is another can of worms; around here you start with stamped plans in your hand from an Engineer when you walk into the city planning office for modifying anything.
