I looked online today for a taller garage stool since mine is to low for my workbench and couldn't find anything either high enough for or cost friendly, so I took some scrap 4x4's, cut about .5 inches off and bought some 4" bolts and made a spacer out of it.

While I'm happy with the way it turned out, because anything was an improvement, I wish I could have find longer screws at Ace Hardware as I would have liked to gain another 2" but hey, you gotta work with what you have.

Maybe try some taller wheels for the 2" you want? 3 or 4 inch?

This was a quick fix for the time being but wheels aren't cheap and by the time I bought new wheels I'd be able to buy a new stool.

Get a 1/2 spade bit and counter sink the wood until your short screws will fit.

Also They certainly do make bigger screws, check amazon if you can wait.

Third option would be make a plywood box. Install the seat and the wheels with 1 side off then put it on last.

The way the plate attaches it wasn't possible to countersink, that was my original intent.
