Has anyone built a custom yet portable shed to park a car in? I have a three car garage but like most could use a bit more room. I have a 10' X 20' parking spot on the side of my home, but can't build anything permanent there due to a city easement for a drain running between homes. Anyway, I'd like to build a shed to keep my car in when not being driven, esp in winter when it just sits there under cover. Id like to keep the shelter low enough to be hidden behind the fence. I was thinking a flat bed car trailer with a custom wood framed shelter build on top, like a small house for a car. I know a box trailer may accomplish the same thing, but they are not cheap and wont be just the right size for my car. Car is low profile, so the custom shelter could be built low enough to get car in and out but not much more. My concerns are moisture, but thinking with a one piece vinyl floor the moisture could be kept low and some low level heat in the winter would keep it dry inside. Trailer would be nosed in, so limited chance of it being stolen. Other thoughts I am not considering?

Thank for the insight!

Shipping Containers are wind/water tight and rodent proof.
If you are somewhere near a shipping port, you can get one for around $2500.
Very secure and tough to steal!

An enclosed car trailer would be in the $3500-up range.

I built a shelter for my firewood with greenhouse hoops. Might be 'temporary' enough to meet your codes.

One can build a really small space, its just opening the driver's door to get out which can cause issues. Maybe if you designed a removable side panel for access...but then its not exactly "jump and go".

Thank s for the thoughts. Shipping containers are not exactly portable once dropped. I'd have to get one moved if the city wanted to dig up their drain and they are very big and tall. Neighbors wold never go for it! Need it a bit more permanent than green house hoops and much more secure. Thanks

Maybe a used car trailer with stake pockets. I'd build a "pole barn style, maybe with a shed roof with a slight slope for drainage. Fashion a sliding or removable door on the high side. Maybe put it on blocks to make theft harder instead of nosing in; I'm not sure how you'd nose it in to begin with unless you used a winch or come along. Could probably do it all for $1500 if you got a good deal ($1000 or less) on a trailer.
