I want to add the pulley that came with my HF Electric Hoist. (220lb/440lb version). I was watching a youtube video of the hoist in action and it seems the length of wire rope from the hook to the black round stopper is significantly longer than on the version I purchased. See pics.

Do I have to cut my wire rope and re-swage to have enough length. Or am I missing something?

You are putting the block the wrong side of the bump stop..

I'm not sure why they trap it in place on the lower weight models. It's actually better if it is on the side of the cable that is winding around the spool (relative to the pulley block) rather than the side suspended from the chassis. Otherwise the weight adds no benefit in terms of keeping the cable taught when it's winding. Also, the weight is ideal for activating the auto shut off switch rather than letting the pulley block get sucked up in the bail.

On my heavier model, it is loose on the cable and has a spring between either the hook or the pully block (if installed).
