I have new Ryobi brushless impact drivers. The old ones, had a magnet built into the lower area where the battery connects, that space is now used by an LED and a mode selector. I miss having a place to hold screws on the tool.
I was wondering if adding magnets to the side motor housing would be a bad idea and cause additional wear on the spinning unit inside?
Magnets already stick to that area (I was hoping they didn't during the test, but they stick, top/back, both sides, etc) so would it be a bad idea to affix magnets permanently to that area?
