I live in a 1979 Colonial and while it is only 1632ft^2, I feel like the garage is a little small and if I buy a F-150 Super Crew, it will be even smaller. The garage is 420ft^2 and is 20x21, IIRC. According to my measurements, I would only have 6" to spare, if I get the Crew w/ the 5.5 bed.
The garage is flush on the back side, but a few feet short of being flush with the house from the front. I want to extend it about 3 more feet to make it flush with the front. I wonder if I make it flush I think I would only have to only extend the outer wall on one side the same length? I am also curious if I could just change the pitch of the roof slightly from where the current rafters rest on the current header of the garage door? I would replace the 1x 16' garage door with 2x 9' doors, leaving enough room in the center for the car nearest the house to exit w/o having to squeeze out. I would remove the current 32" garage entry door to the side or potential bump out.
Potential Bump out:
I am also thinking of bumping out a small area on the left side, to give the vehicles more room to open the door w/o hitting the wall as well more storage. I was thinking about doing something similar to this:

As we live in Western NY, it is not so much fun to clean off snow, get into a cold car, and having such a tight fit. We don't have a shed and I think I would rather have some extra square footage in the garage, instead of building a shed that would take up some room in our yard.
Also my wife is great driver, so long as she is not in the drive way. She has an uncanny ability to hit stationary objects, like the garage, or my current vehicle. As I am looking at something both wider and longer than my current ride, I am scared of what she may do.
