In attempt to add to light in our master bedroom with minimum amount of wire snaking etc, I yesterday transformed one receptacle of an existing outlet to be powered from wiring common to the lighting kit for the ceiling fan. I am hoping I did it correctly. Attached is a diagram of what wiring was present at the start.
I simply ran additional 14-2 from the Red and White (neutral?) wires from the ceiling fan box, down the wall, to one receptacle in my existing outlet, connecting Black to Red, White to White at ceiling fan junction, then White to Silver, Black to Gold terminals at outlet. The floor lamp that plugs into the outlet now is operated by the same switch that controls the ceiling fan light.
