Greetings. I have been lurking about for some time but with a limited attention span, probably due to the (approaching 4 years) adjustment to being a parent of twins (it's really good, but different than before). My shop is based on a childhood vision, loosely based on the shop of an eccentric retired machinist I know, but mostly by the trauma of very badly wanting a machinist vice from Santa and then receiving a aluminum wood vice, I never recovered as you may see. The shop supports my personal interest in design. Among my interest are performance cars, industrial design, the machine age and skateboarding pools. The one small project that I have been tackling since the arrival of the kids is making foundry patterns for several versions of a skate truck that I have been machining and riding.
Things change, there is a noticeable shift in my free time for focusing on the interesting and the challenging. In the last year the two car (1 3/4 really, and not actually for cars anymore) shop containing much iron had yet another lathe (making 3) pushed in there in the last year and I couldn't even walk in. I had to climb...anyway I'm putting it back into shape. I will continue to steal from the greats here at TGJ, and some day I be able to get some work done -instead of doing my semi annual machine rearrange in the shop. Cheers.
