It looks like menards is marking down NEW sets of tools that weren't included in the last big cut.

End of the day today these should be marked in store, I got them this morning before prices had changed on tags:

This morning I picked up:
20 pc SAE/Metric 3/8 drive set for $7.80 - still was marked $40 (found it online the night before)

Universal socket - reviews on name brand good on amazon but this one is better since the pins are hexes and not circles - $2 was marked previous discount at $5 down from $8

Those were in the last cut. The 20pc sets were all gone in the first day at my local stores.

That stuff has been marked down at Champaign IL for a couple of weeks. I went in there a couple of hours ago. Those sockets still aren't selling at $2. Most of the 9mm stuff was still there also.

Thanks bfm336! I just paid for both to have around the house. Both were supposedly in stock at my local store.

Has anyone ever used one of those universal sockets? Seems so silly to me. I'd rather keep the 2 bucks.

Someone gave me one years ago, a "Gator Grip." The only use I've ever gotten out of it is for installing screw eyes (with a pilot hole) that I don't want to chew up with pliers or accidentally bend with a screwdriver. It actually does work for that.

That's the only thing that's saved it from being scrapped.

Sorry if some folks had these marked down already, they weren't included for sure in my store's markdown a few weeks ago.

The universal socket is made in taiwan, actually looks like decent quality for what it is.

Agree with monomach above - I'm thinking for small wing nuts and screw eyes (although primarily removing). I'm thinking it would be nice if I bring something home from a garage sale that I want to quickly take apart.
