Just need some advice I do paint & bodywork from home in a 24 x 36 monoslope shop.It use to have a gable roof with trusses but that's a whole Nother story so now its like this..hell I still haven't put the corner pieces on but roof is all new lumber even cedar over the rafters, osb all around, thick foam getting ready to panel anyways.I'm growing out of the shop I have about 12 jobs here now but the way the shops set up you have to put the cars on dollys to get 3 in there.
So my question should I just add to the back (the high is the back) maybe another 30 ft there's a driveway that goes to the back as the front but if I add an addition it'll be where I can run a side slider & back doors & split my driveway into a Y & it will keep customers from being near my house as of now most people come down my front driveway
Or should I just build another shop...I have A LOT of land & have a good spot for a new shop but it is close to the house & you would have to enter through my main driveway. What I like about the addition is noone would ever have to see the house & I could just through an office in there, but what I like about the idea of a new shop is I love how the shops with trusses look.Noone has ever seen a shop like mine & a I haven't so far but don't want to lose business because its diffrent.I like it becauase its 38 outside & I'm sitting in my insulated shop with the low ceilings & I just warmed it up to 90 In about 15 mins with my huge torpedo heater & I'm installing a outside wood furnace.Anyways thoughts?

I would consider what your needs may be 5-10-20 years down the road also. Which location will give you room to expand again if needed. Which location will give you better parking. I personally like the idea of working with your existing location. It lets you have some privacy. Some day you may not be interested in going to the shop and the customers can go and see your manager instead of coming by your house. As a person who is also self employed and had the business at home and now at a seperate location, I want some privacy. New is nice as you can design it the way you want but location is everything. You can remodel the old building anytime but the new one if built will always be close to the house.

Thanks I just found the reply in the spam box.I talked to the wife & where thinking to builld on & put a entrance on side as I think I mentioned & building a office so customers can quit eyeballing my tools.A 60 ft long x 24 ft wide monoslope is gonna look nuts.I wonder if there is a way that I can add a loft maybe @ the highest point 24 ft wide as the width of the building then maybe just 8-12 ft long..or however u wanna call it then I can hag one 12 ft side for lightweight storage items to right of stairs left side will be my side a mini man cave ,Ill keep it light weight a futon,tv on the wall mini fridge&a gaming system.Think its possible?I've been up there with 4 big old boys..Id actually like some kind of pull down stairs.I thought about it&like my wife..the brains of the operation said.If you just add on think of how much you can put aside for that cummins you want or how many of your bikes you could finish & turn your shop into something unlike your average polebarn &make it look cool.So I'm taking her advice.I've been saving to buy a cummins used ofcourse I take no payment deals & I had almost 10k in cash saved up as well as some silver &gold which I had in a safe & the one day I locked the pitbulls up the house got robd.I have a fella wanted me to do some work for a 2008 4x4 laramie cummins a few months back I'm gonna call him & see oh blah blah I'm talking about trucks now sorry.

If you add on, you can make it look like your current shop is a shed addition to your new space.
