This is one of those take-a-book / leave-a-book libraries. It will be near the roadway in front of our church. I'm thinking about cedar shake, trimmed for scale , glued to the MDO case for the roofing look.

I don't want nails protruding into where folks will be reaching for books so was wondering about adhesives to hold the shakes down. Silicon or PL maybe. Something else? Or bad idea all together?

I've had poor luck w/ cedar & construction adhesive when it gets wet, but there shouldn't be a lot of load here. Use plenty.

Use nails or staples that don't go all the way thru. Either double dipped galvanized or stainless steel if this is in the weather.
I have a 1/4" staple gun that uses 18guage staples. I can get staples as short as 1/2" long.
