I got an aftermarket intake hose that leaks air. The car does not use MAF sensor so the car runs perfectly fine. (It uses MAP sensor to determine amount of air.) But the hose keeps sucking air and it makes a weird sound. Don't ask me to buy a new factory hose. That is $100. The aftermarket one is only $20. I can eliminate the noise using duct tape (or Gorilla tape) and zip tie. But the problem is that in California, no duct tape is allowed. Once the Smog technician sees a duct tape on intake, it is an automatic fail. Even a bunch of residual is highly undesirable because then it will attract unnecessary attention which will then lead to Smog fail. So I am wondering is there a special type of tape that can be peeled off cleanly without trace? It should be moderately heat resistant, but that is not a big deal because Gorilla tape works fine. Any idea on which tape is best here? Thanks in advance for the suggestions!
