Are they worth it?

I just have regular Prybars....Are these that great to have?

I see that Gear wrench makes them, as well as Craftsman... Taiwan make. These two sell for $49.

Snappy set of 3 sells for $242, but are made in the US...

the craftsman ones are made by chicago tool company as well as the snap on's http://chicagotoolcompany.com/products.html

are you sure the cman ones are made in taiwan? (even the pics are the same.)

edit: as a side note the chicago tool company claims they are the inventor of the indexable ratchet that we discussed in an earlier thread.

the sears site claims they are made by gearwrench and the CTC site claims the make them. i wonder if there is an connection between the two companies?

I am also wondering everyones opinions on these. I looked at them a few years back, and it seemed to me that they are trying to replace two sets of prybars, the ladyfoot style, and the regular style (I have both). So I passed these by.

I've played with these in the store and I'm not a fan. They have a lot of slop in them which makes me uncomfortable when really leaning into something. I suggest going to sears and playing with one.

They're manufactured by Well Make Industry Co., in Taiwan, irrespective of whose name is stamped on the side, under licence from CTC.

I bought a complete set of them from Matco. While not totally useful in certain situations, they have a spot where they are extremely handy. I just wished that there was a mid range size available. i have a 10'' 18'' and a 36''. Looking for a 24''

The matco brand does not have any noticeable slop, and you can put all the force into them that you can muster without them breaking. I'm 250lbs and fairly strong. I can't break them yet, and have had them for 3 years.

I use mine all the time and find them invaluable at times. I thought they were kind of gimmicky, even when i bought them, but they've proven very useful to me.

Actually, if you read that carefully, it never says they make only pneumatic tools. Only that they started in that business and have an R&D program to develop pneumatic tools.

HF also sells a version, I have the GW 10" bought last year from Amazon for $13 during some sale. I feel no slop, and side by side looks the same as my friends Snapon.

The indexing lets you snake into a limited movement area and apply full force from any available angle. Also good for the times when you need two prybars and one is a tight spot, or one is hold position and the other the umph.

HF and others also sell just the ladyfoot with a 1/2" drive fitting on the end to use with any ratchet or breaker bar, like $5, but haven't seen it in stores yet, just online.
