Hi
I was just wondering what some of you guys think this stuff is worth. I picked them up at a garage sale.

I don't think old monkey wrenches are worth much. They are soo common and easy to find. Maybe there are specific ones that are worth something. They are cool to collect. There are many variations.

What are they called, Stilson or something like that?

They look OLD and neat, so I've bought a couple at yard sales for $2 or so. Not rare, but its nice to have some tools that have stood the test of time.

I would be looking for a PM, there are a good number of collectors of old tools that would be interested to expand their collection. Not rare, but collectable.

They are fairly common and can be had for cheap at most yard sales and flea markets. I would say for the lot you have they would bring $30-$40 tops.

Probably more for garage art/display rather than resell.

I'm a pessimist. I'd say those are worthless to most people. Maybe you'd get someone to buy the lot for $5. You would need 2 collectors to get the price to go up. I would guess ebay would be your best bet. Local sales probably wont get much.

Old monkey wrenches are great for working on bicycles. The mechanics at a bicycle repair shop will want them. They are hard to find these days.

I like to use them for plumbing. They often fit better in a tight space than a Cresent Wrench.

I think the highest dollar one you have there is the Ford wrench. I have seen them go at flea markets for $20 and up when in good shape.

This^^^ Unless you happen onto a particularly rare/desirable monkey wrench (2 on the rt are monkey wrenches, the others are Auto/bicycle wrenches, although thr top left is a bit different)

The bicycle wrenches MIGHT be a bit more collectible (valuable) than the Ford wrench, maybe.

If anyone wants more than a couple/three bucks, I generally pass, too easy to pickup "by the pound" at yard sales. Fun to collect, but I'm not generally going to feed the top feeder sellers

Stillson = Pipe wrench, but a common misconception (Although I'm sure Stillson made monkey wrenches, but out of 7, none I have are Stillson)

Good thread!

I just learned the two adjustable wrenches that were in my grandfather's 50's era Craftsman tool box are called bicycle wrenches.

I wasn't sure of their intended use, but now they will be moved into the drawer with all my bicycle tools.

These are the best I can do at night with the limited light. Neither wrench has any visilble markings, but I will look closer and inspect them in direct sunlight.
