I'm installing ProCom 45K Heater. The heater comes setup for NG. I've converted to LP. Instructions require adjusting LP pressure at the heater to .5 psi. There is a port for installing a gauge. Is this something I can do myself? If so, where would I find a gauge? I really hate to track down an HVAC man if I can do it myself....

Yes, you can even make your own gauge using a piece of clear tubing! Since it uses gravity and basic measurements, even a DIY gauge is highly accurate.

Another option would be buying an inexpensive model like this one. I would imagine .5psi would be about the standard 10-11" of water column most LP equipment requires.

If you find a better option on the cheap let me know, I'm about to do some work which requires one as well.

Either become profocient at doing and knowing the gas line install or leave it to the proffesionals. Not worth the chance at blowing yourself or your garage up.

Thats why many areas don't even sell gas products to the public. My permit required it to be installed by a licensed gas installer and was inspected by the town FD even though i could have easily done it and better. If my heater fails for whatever reason and demo's the place my insurance is covered. Your Insurance agent "will" ask you who installed it if it's determined it was at fault...JMO.

Anyone else have specific information with regard to adjusting gas pressure? I'm running 1/2 black pipe/valves and doing the wiring today...

If your following the gas pipe installation from your manual and once you have the piping system installed to the heater, have tank and regulator hooked up, shut off your main gas valve to heater, tank valve off and install a w.c gauge to your gauge port. Turn on your tank valve and adjust tank regulator to the required ~11" w.c.

I will assume that you will pressure test the system first. Same way only use a air source (manual pump, reg. compressed air). You can test at 10-15 psi or whatevers convienient and use soap solution to check joints.

Tried not to sound **** in my last message but have seen too many DIY installs only to later complain they have problems.

All the info i just listed for you is spelled out in your manual.

...you forgot to add to fire up heater so you get gas flow through the manifold.... I'll be reading with a PSI gauge, vice manometer.
Thanks
