Okay, maybe I am just not up with today's technology. I bought a Bluetooth ELM32 and Torque Pro. It seems to be aimed at folks who want to acceleration and 1/4 mile timing, not diaganostic

Found a P0301 (misfire cylinder #1) code. Replaced both the coil and the plug.

  • Now how in the heck do I clear the code ?
  • How do I watch "real time" data for misfire counters ?
  • Is there are "real" manual or just a Wiki ?

Has any one purchased both Torque Pro and BlueDriver ? The advertisements seem to indicate that BlueDriver is more aimed at diagnostic.
True or False ?

In for the answers.

I just connected my elm327 and torque pro today not because I had a code but just to check it out.

While connected via bluetooth you should be able to go to the fault codes screen, hit the little three dots in the upper right corner to pull up a menu and select "clear faults on ECU."

Not sure on the real time stuff, I never had much luck with that.

turk is right for clearong codes.

to watch real time data you go to real time information hit menu (small cog on bottom left) and add display. not sure if there is a misfire counter but i have graphs, for o2 and fuel trims on mine right now.youll have to choose what kind of display and and then what parameters.

sorry for typos on mobile

I have Bluedriver and it's more diagnostic than the Torque Pro you've mentioned. It reads, clears codes, Airbag codes for Ford, GM, Chrysler and Toyotas, Live data, Freeze data/Snapshot, smog check and offers repair reports.

Read it here: http://www.lemurmonitors.com/

I've been wanting to buy an Autel MaxiDas 708 but since I got this thing in February of this year I haven't found the need to.....yet.

Wiz- are you positive the coil and plug were bad?

No, but I found this carbon mark on #1 coil

Torque Pro consistently gets better reviews than the other Android OBD software choices. It does have a bit of a learning curve but you just need to experiment with it. Their website has some good info and a forum to get help.

I just recently used Torque Pro to diagnose a bad O2 sensor (my Suburban has 4). I set up real time monitors for each of the O2 sensors and quickly found one that had intermittent problems. I moved the suspect 02 sensor to another location and Torque Pro indicated the problem moved as well so I knew the wiring was not at fault. I really like it for its real time monitor usage. I also have software on my laptop computer that works well too and is much more intuitive (ScanXL) but it sure is easy to use the phone and Torque Pro for the initial diagnosis.

I prefer the interface and real time stats of Torque, but as far as I could make out it was not able to read ABS codes, which is what I needed, so I went for BlueDriver which does... got my codes read and fixed. I might still go for a cheap ebay bluetooth sender so I can use Torque though...

I've tried key positions. When I got the elm obd dongle torque openly stated they did not have interface codecs for every vehicle and suggested trying free before buying.

Blue driver list of vehicles is suspect... they use the same drop down most parts websites use which is inaccurate. Makes me suspect if they actually know what they are compatible with.

I have pointed out 2 issues in those listings to several parts sites, all claim it's another company's product that runs the dropdown selection.
My car...01 dodge intrepid es. Wrong engine listing...es had 3.2l or 2.7l...they only list 2.7 for es. Only approx 500 cars were made with 3.2l, and only es trim had it.to be fair, only a couple hundred es were built with 2.7l either...most of production was sent trim.

There is an 02 300m I work on quite a bit that was swapped to 3.2. the computer doesn't know the difference. connects fine. some of the adapters supposedly work better than others, maybe I just got lucky

Got the $5 version of Torque Pro to display the transmission temp of my 05 Avalanche today. I had to load the GM PIDs & it worked easily.

I have the Torque lite app and so far I've read and cleared codes in a couple of vehicles. I like it so far, its better than having to run down town to Auto Zone just to pull the codes.
I keep the OBD2 plug in my pocket and armed and ready to scan!

My nephews F 150 had lean bank 1 and bank 2 codes - p1074, p0171 I cleared them and they didn't come back so must not have been anything going on there.

My Windstar as a p1518 code that its never had so I need to check into that. Something about the intake valve stuck open.

Not sure if I'll updrade to Torque Pro or not I finally have an Autel 802 Elite coming.:bounce: Finally!

So far I like the Torque lite app. I've scanned and pulled and cleared codes on 4 vehicles with it. I don't have them all fixed yet but thats a start. LOL!

I was kind of disappointed that it won't tell me if my alternator is putting out 14V.

I saw a condition a while back where my daughters alternator was putting out 12.98V.
Amazingly it would run like that day in and day out but wouldnt cut the mustard at night burning head lights.

I drove it home one night for her but had to stop every mile and cut the lights off and let it charge enough to get another mile down the road until the lights would dim out and do it again.

Maybe there is a way to get the alternator voltage and I haven't found it yet. Or maybe I have to get the 5 dollar app to do that?

Thats one of the most common things you need on occasion but its also one thing you can easily check without any kind of scan tool so I guess they did a good job. But you do need a fairly reliable Multimeter with some knowledge to check Alternator voltage.

I don't like alternator lights on the dash nearly as well as I do a gauge that shows 12V not running and near 14V when running. It doesn't get much better than that. What triggers an alternator light anyhow, low voltage?

Just reading and clearing codes alone plus some of the live data that it offers definitely makes the Torque app worth having. I love it!
