Just wanted to share what a horrible customer service I experienced.

I guess most of you aware of special they had in January where if you buy $100 worth of stuff - they send $50 coupon in Feb. They had free shipping over $75 as well.

So, I ordered 15 quarts of M1 oil, I think I read all fine print and everything. No problem with order. Then on Feb 3 I emailed to ask where my coupon is and got reply saying that offer was good only for those who registered on website. So, I ordered without registration and wasn't eligible for that deal.

I work for online retailer and that would be last thing we do to a customer. Especially to those ones who actually follows up. Our company would take expired coupons and go long ways to satisfy customer. At AAP I got response that ended like "We hope you continue shopping with us" What a joke..

I mean I can expect this from small shop but from one of the big guys like AAP - that was very strange. I spent decent amount of money at their stores but will go elsewhere now.

I haven't got my $50.00 coupon yet, either.
I called this past monday and was told they were slow getting them out.
I went to their site and it sure seems like i am registered.
we'll see what happens.

Here's a link to the offer (I think, I google'd for it):

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/content_spend-100-get-50-back

I think it is a little misleading, especially since it's in the fine print. The first part says to qualify you need to sign into your account or create a new one. But then it says orders placed on the web site will recieve the coupon.

Not real clear.

I would write back and ask for it to be escalated to a manager. Maybe even offer to create an account now and advise them you will place your future orders through your registered account -- you know, throw them a bone. Tell them how they can satisfy you and keep you as a customer.

Not much to lose at this point...

I buy everything I can from advance, If they carry it I buy it from them. But, having said that I only deal with one guy and I go to the actual store. Some of the people that work there are not all that bright.

Advanced, Autozone and Oreillys are all within a 1/2 mile of each other. They all **** on different days. Its your job to find out which one ***** less at any given time. Advanced has a big sign out that says "Under new management" Maybe that will help??

and so do thier people. Take a parts person out to lunch if they really help you out. It will blow thier minds. Then write a note to thier boss and thier bosses boss saying how you liked thier help. I finally found a mechanic that I can trust. I get so tired of "techs" that do half asswork, leave the vehicle dirty and generally don't give a ----.
