I was in Advance Auto today and they were clearancing a bunch more tools. Mostly Teq Correct ones. This time they actually had good clearance pricing. Mostly 50% or more off. Some of the sets were 2/3 off.

I really like the TEQ/Gearwrench stuff. I will have to stop by the only Advance that has tools out for you to actually look at and see what I can find. I feel they would sell a lot more tools if they had them out but I also get theft and everything too. I wonder who will be making the Diehard tools? Is it going to be Apex who makes the Gearwrench/TEQ? If the tools are as bad as the batteries then I’ll have to pass.

I caught this sale a week or so ago and picked up both of these for $43.**. The 3/8 is a flex head.
I bought those same ones yesterday for a lot less. It dropped enough to make me go for it even though I have several others. It was under $25 for both.

My local store sold out within the first couple days. I didn’t need either really but they both feel solid.

I had been eyeing the 1/2 one for a couple of years but didn't want to spent that much. There was a couple other people buying at the same time as I was looking. I thought the really good deals were on the kits and sets.

I just looked online and didn’t see any marked on sale. Is this in store only? If online, where are all of you seeing them? I did pick up a set of teq deep 3/8 metric sockets before Christmas for like $14.99 if I remember correctly.

just go to the store. My local store had all gearwrench and Teq products on clearance and I walked in an advanced out of town yesterday and they were completely sold out from having the same sale.

In store only and check the tool aisle, the Gearwrench/Teq Correct wall and the clearance rack. Don't assume the prices on the tools are correct. They mostly aren't from what I've seen.

What idiot with a marketing MBA decided to use a well-known battery brand name and put it on hand tools?

Sounds like a smart move to me. Diehard is a recognizable name that carries brand recognition, so why not capitalize on it. People will recognize a name like Diehard and associate it with quality.

Teq Correct is literally one of the dumbest names I’ve ever heard of. I bet this new Diehard line will pull in some serious money for Advance.

AutoZone = Duralast
Advance = Diehard

100% a smart move. No different than Stanley buying the Craftsman brand from Sears and bastardizing it by plastering CRAFTSMAN all of their cheap, poor quality tools.

that's because with all the rapid price changes being promulgated by corporate, we haven't had time to keep up with changing out price tags. hll, I just bought some super glue tonight that was shelf priced at $6.50 but register said 9.99 . Our store is actually closing early for the last 3 days because we don't have enough employees to cover all shifts and Asst GM has covid. and yet we still have about the same amount of business as before.

Wondering whether they will ask Bruce Willis to promote Diehard tools. Curious why in the past Sears never did so. I thought it is a natural match. In fact, auto parts stores can use Rock and Vin Diesel as well.
Advance recently had Bruce Willis pushing them selling Die Hard batteries but, I don't think it was done that well :dunno:

Same here. I went the day after I saw this thread and all the sale stuff was gone. I appreciate the heads up from the OP, though. I'll have to be quicker next time.
It was mentioned back in Nov.

The reason I mentioned it was there was a new batch of markdowns that went through on Friday. Some of the stuff was already marked down and some of it still hasn't been. The GM of one of the stores called me to let me know they had a new round they got an email about that morning.

hard to say but I think it also depends on the store GM. we had some at my store but then he quickly changed the tags from red back to yellow. and now they're hanging tags that say 'Diehard coming soon'

Isn't Advance the one who is changing all their house brand fluids (oil, etc.) to the Fram brand? Someone there seems to be on this kick- use a well known but essentially unrelated automotive brand to get perceived legitimacy for your in-house generic products.

They have Die Hard power tools now, which are the same as many generic low-to-mid grade Chinese brands, but with a different color scheme.

Yeah. And a bunch of other stuff according to wikipedia:

" The DieHard brand is also used on battery chargers, booster cables, power inverters, alkaline batteries, tires, work boots, and the batteries for Craftsman power tools. " wiki

I saw this thread yesterday, so I stopped at the Advance nearest me last night. TEQ tools were not on clearance - I had the counter guy price-check the hex-bit sockets - they were still regular price. Maybe this hasn't taken effect in San Antonio yet.

I was in my local store recently for a part, checked the tool aisle as usual but I didn't see any clearance or markdowns.

picked up an Indexable Pry bar #TP82216 for $10.50 (normally $30), and 68pc socket set #TP83000 for $32 (normally $90). and then I got an employee discount on top of that :love:😁

the Indexable pry bar I can definitely use. didn't really need the socket set but that was a price I just couldn't pass up!

I got about $200 worth of tools yesterday between two locations. One had way more on sale than the other. I’m happy about it because it would of been way more at regular price. Like I got a 3/4 ratchet for $16 and I think the breaker bar was like $14 which is not bad at all. And got a bunch of other stuff too. I’ll definitely be hitting them all up eventually. One guy at the location that hardly had anything on sale said they would clearance more when the brand starts to go away completely which he said will be June but I’m not sure if that’s right or not I’m just going by what he said.
