been thinking seriously about one of these....i see several of you guys are in Pa, I'm in west Virginia, i wonder if there are any dealers/installers near me? anyone know?
I thought I had posted in this thread but I guess not? Anyway, I bought a couple of the 9000XLT's with rolling jack and airbag jack.
Excuse the mess (it was much worse), been painting and moving things around, the end is in sight or at least that's what I keep telling the wife...

Anyone wax the outside of the post as the manual suggested? How does it glide?
I did. Using s synthetic car wax. I don’t think it matter much though.
On one of my columns the glide blocks was a little tight during assembly. I got it stuck half way. It’s better you try to put all the glide blocks in before you stand it up.

I think he was referring to the assembly and it got binded up. So he suggested an easier way to do it.

Just received my lift yesterday. For those of you who order this. Tony did a great job of shipping this out very quick. One small problem that you may want to be aware of. The email I received about the tracking info from kingsolutions was kind of misleading. When I clicked on the link it isn’t the “official tracking info”. The link said 12:12 3/6/2018 enroute to Kansas City. Expected delivery date on 3/8/18. So I wasn’t expecting it until then.
Just for giggles I went to the actual FedEx site. The email said it was shipped via FedEx freight. I put my reference number in and tracked it. It was already delivered to the FedEx terminal. In fact it was there TUES night. I didn’t realize it was there until WED at about 4pm.
Long story short don’t rely on the email. Check the FedEx website for actual shipping info.

I purchased the xlt. I used a 16’ tandem. The xlt used every inch and the about a 1/2 more. So if buying the xlt make sure u bring a 17’ trailer.
On another note don’t be stupid like me. I didn’t leave enough room on one end of the lift to insert the linkage rod into. So my work around is to raise the lift then put bolts into the locks then stretch a tie down between the bolts to hold the locks open while I lower it onto the casters. Then I’ll move the lift and then be able to finish the installation.
The other problem I ran into is I don’t have a 20 amp circuit in the garage. They are all 15 amp. So I’m running the circuit but ran into problems finding a wY into the finished garage. So I figured I would use my portable generators 20 amp circuit but can’t get the thing to start. When it rains it pours. Lol. I would been done with this on the first day it I didn’t run into these problems

I didn't have a 20 amp too, needed to run a new circuit from the panel, I ran EMT on wall. As for generator I believe they are not good to start heavy loads like that. As long as you have a 20A circuit and not running on extension cords, the lift motor should work.
BTW, I believe you said 10' ceiling? but XLT? what cars are you working on/storing?

I got the xlt for future needs. Incase I ever move. Plus I’m 6’10 and wanted to be able to walk under it. When I didn’t have any cars on it. I will be storing two mustangs. I didn’t want to run the EMT. I think I found a way to run it.
I think the gen could handle it. It’s a 7750 wats with a 13,500 surge.

Got my lift up and running. Havent been able to put a car on it. I need to raise my garage door and then move the door opener to the side mount.
One thing they are supposed to come with a height limiter switch. Mine did not. I need to call Tony. Also they changed another thing. The swag block not longer comes with the nylon wheels. Instead they now place bumber pads on the top of the swag block. Seams to work.
Tony said the wheels where getting chewed up from the cables.

The height limiter switch is just a spring loaded contact switch but the components are all epoxied for durability, mine had shipped separately by mail.
It comes with a cut cord and you have to open and splice into the motor unit, I have not bothered to do that.

What I was thinking of doing is placing a strip of Velcro in the center of the post between where to collar dos t make contact. That way you don’t have to drill into the post and could position it just about anywhere

Mine didn't come with the height limit switch either. I called Tony and he sent me one over night. I forgot that the videos show the nylon wheels and I asked about that and they said they removed 'em because the wheels were a problem. I guess they were great in theory, but not reality.
Do you have any access space over your garage? If you do and you have access to any 20A circuits running through that space, you can always tie into it. That's what I did. Our master bath has a 20A service for the Jacuzzi tub. I bought a couple junction boxes, cut the line, ran one end into one box, ran a 2' extension to the other box and ran the other end of the cut 20A into the other box. I then connected two outlets into the garage, one from each junction box. I've seen people try to cut and tap a line and install in one box, but once cut, you can't secure your connections properly, and to code.

Just got it installed. Ran a 20 amp circuit to garage. Now just have to run it in ceiling and over to the lift. Need to raise the garage door closer to ceiling. They won’t be here until the 27th. So I had to improvise, adapt and overcome. I had to temporarily angle to garage door track toward the ceiling so I could open the door. Purchased a liftmaster 8550 side mount. ( anyone need an regular garage door opener lol)
Today is first day I was able to get a car on the lift
Love it.
Talked to Tony about the height limit switch. He is sending one out.
If anyone is hesitant about pulling the trigger. Do it.
One thing great about advantage lift is the customer service. I called Tony today to enquire about the height limit switch I got his voicemail. I left a message. Right after I left a VM. I received a text saying sorry I missed your call I was talking to another client I’ll call you back after I finished up. Got a call not even 10 mins later.
Hard to come by companies that actually know how customer service is supposed to work. Good guy to deal with.

I have an attic above the garage I did look up ther for a 20amp circuit but no dice. I have to run one from the other side of my basement to the garage. I just read that they changed the code in 2017. The new code is to have at least on 20amp circuit in the garage.
Hello guys. I was 1 second away from buying a bendpak and then posting in another thread I asked for some advice. I was steered here. I wonder why or if anyone can tell me how long the entire lift is WITHOUT the ramps. I plan on putting tractors perpendicular on the lift but I have somewhat limited space and need to see if it will fit. It looks like the posts are about 5" taller which might be a problem - I have to go remeasure....

here are the measurements of the standard lift.
You can see without the ramps it's around 175" long, to get the measurement inside the front and back post you subtract about 10".
Yes not ALI certified, they do have all the standard safety features though.

ALI certification? Doesn't matter to me. If it has all of the safety gear, and is built as good as this lift is, why worry about the certification? Has an ALI certified lift ever failed and dropped a car? Has an ALI certified lift ever snapped a cable and dropped a corner or the entire lift? The certification really means nothing other than it's certified!

When I was looking to buy I compared the design of a bunch of lifts that would work for me. I saw some certified lifts that looked much less beefy than this lift. I believe I read somewhere that the manual lock release on this lift prevents it from being certified.
While it is made in China, there is a huge price difference to get a USA made lift. Certified seems to add to the price as well. Always a bit of a risk buying offshore made stuff, but I haven't seen any complaints on this lift. Many other China made lifts out there as well, and from my research minimal issues I have been able to find. Many of the US companies are importing a lot of their stuff these days too. For me, for hobby use, I can't justify a huge price tag, and in my evaluation I figured this lift would be good for me.
So after a lot of research and a lot of planning, comparing, measuring, etc., I decided this was the best lift for me. I like the way it is designed, it runs on 110V, doesn't need air, and the dimensions and ratings work very well for what I use it for.

Some lifts have an air operated release, others have a lever. So on the Advantage there is a lever at the same corner as the hydraulic unit that you hold down to disengage the locks. You have to hold it the whole time you are lowering until you are below the bottom most lock position.
I have no idea why that pic is sideways.......

It is not. Steel is thicker and bigger. Last I checked the BYB doesn’t have the secondary fail safe feature.

If you want the bendpak get the bendpak. Not sure what you have priced or any accessories. Bendpak maybe cheaper, you are getting steel ramps, possibly. The bendpak aluminum ramps run about $300-$400 for the longer 48" version

Just priced the bendpak xtra tall xtra long. Added the caster set the drip trays and the aluminum ramps. Total was $3,900. Plus you have to have an air compressor to run it. If you don’t have one or would like a dedicated one. That’s extra $$.
I purchased the advantage XLT delivered to a freight terminal by FedEx. With delivery I paid $200 less than the bendpak.
