My sister's master cooler MCP44k is 4 years old. A about a month ago she had a friend come look at it before the summer starts. He opened it up and noticed the pumps are shot and lots of sand in reservoir he told her even if she got the cooler to work it would leak but never said why. Yesterday I opened it up cleaned and replaced the pumps and [float valve] it does leak but I can't figure out why (she also used dish soap to clean medias(.. wonder if the pumps are wrong I put 2 new pumps in but 2 of the same pumps should I have gotten a purge and a circulation pump.. I mean aren't they doing the same thing anyway just one is going to the ground the other is shooting upward??

Here's the manual. New pad would would keep the efficiency up just a humidifier. Tbere is a float valve set at 2" and a distributor to spread out the water over the pad.

I've replaced a few pumps, plungers and lines for the mcp44 (i by far claim to be an expert dont misunderstand). However, this one is the first double pump. Though I've replaced them according to manual. am I to understand that maybe the "purge pump" is not working properly causing reservoir water level being too high or i need new media? I'm not able to get back in there till next week and I'm concerned there's a crack in res or I installed the incorrect pump. The fact he knew it would over flow still bugs me but she refuses to call him because she thinks he was trying to scam her. I appreciate your reply
