We're putting up our dream building that we've worked towards for 20 years. It's 54' x 72' x 12' ceiling--pole building. R 19 in the walls & R 32 in the ceiling. Vapor barrier in floor, walls & ceiling.
We are in Kansas with winter temps in the low 20's and summer temps usually approaching 100 area.
The building will be for display/storage for our classic cars and a "hang out" for us, friends and family.
We're asking for input on forced air heating and air conditioning size. Propane is the fuel source. It will be a floor unit with duct work in the ceiling. We are putting in 4 ceiling fans.
Thanks in advance for any input.

I would look at a climate zone map (google it) and find out what temperature zone you are in. Maybe zone 4 or 5, I'm not sure. Zone 5 is typically around 50 or 60 BTU's a Square foot. Zone 4 maybe 40 to 50 . Confirm the numbers and do the math. If we use 40 BTU's a square foot, it would be 3888 x 40 for a total of 155,520 btu's. An 80% AFUE furnace of 150,000 btu's produces only 120,000 btu's of heat an hour. The rest goes up the chimney. A 98% furnace produces 147,000 btu's. You multiply the AFUE rating by the actual BTU rating of the furnace to get to this number. This is for a furnace. I would guess at a 5 ton A/C unit. This is a guess on the A/C though.

I have a 60X72X14 with R 19 + R30 in the walls and the same in the roof. (The R 30 in the wall I added, the roof was by the installer) in the KC area of Kansas.

I have around 80,000 Btu heat input (100,000 btu 80% package unit)and it is more than capable. My 5 ton AC is oversized and short cycles.

Just for information the difference in my walls is pretty big.
