Advice on designs?

I want to build something to store my screwdrivers

I have around 50 now from Phillips, Nutdrivers, Torx, Robertson, Flatheads with more on the way...insulated and possibly pozidrive and allen head

Got any idea for a storage designs to work with?

Right now I have them in a Klein screwdriver display but its weighing down from the weight on my pegboard and its pretty beat up.

I keep my torx screw drivers in a different drawer with my torx sockets, where my allen sockets are too. So, if I had allen screw drivers I'd put them in that same drawer. All my flatheads and phillips are in the same drawer, I just dig through it to find what I need. But I lose a ton of screwdrivers, so you might be on to something with some sort of something to hold them, so you can see where you are missing one.

I have been thinking about this also, and have come up with a design in mind that I think will work. My thought is to get some heavy steel, possibly from an old car hood, cut it into a 3 or 4 foot square, and to drill a line of holes in it. Then I will move down on the metal about 3" and drill another set of holes. I will keep doing this until I have about 5 or more lines of holes. Then I will put the sheet of metal into the metal brake and bend it at 90 degree angle, causing it to look like steps. Braze some sort of end support on it, and place the "rack" on the work bench. Like I said, this is a design that I have visualized in my head, but haven't tried. Feel free to make it and post some pictures.

If you like using the display rack why not use metal pegboard instead of the brown stuff?

If you have the following, small bench drill press you can make your own. Go to Home Depot or Lowes. In the area where they sell metal, i.e. aluminum angle, specifically 1"x1"x1/8"x36" and buy a stick or two. Now, trail over to the area where the wood dowels are kept, you nees a 1" diameter one. If you need drill bits for the various sizes, might as well get them too. Drill appropiate holes in a location to suite in the 1"x1"x1/8" angle. Drill mounting holes in opposite side, cut 1" dowel spacers to length needed (1" will do) drill 1/4" through center (make at least 3). Place flat up, mount to peg board. Insert screw drivers. I did the same thing with 1x1x1/8 steel for my air tools. I used a 5/16 drill, then took a saw and slotted the holes. Mounted it about 2" away from the peg board (4 places) and it holds all of the air tools I have.

Problem with putting them in a drawer for me is because my drawers are pretty much full so I dont have room for them

I have mine on a long magnetic strip above teh workbench.

Mine are in divided drawers, pretty much sorted by length. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if my tools were hanging out on pegboard or similar open storage.

Same here. I spent way too much money on a roll around tool chest to leave my tools out in the open.

The only way i can get any work done is to separate the tools into small easy to handle boxes, I put all the metric sockets in one and all of the screw drivers in another etc. It keeps me from having to keep geting up and down from the creeper . I just grab the box I need and drag it under the car with me. I keep tools I use mainly on the work bench on a peg board and in my large snap on cabinet beside the bench.
