Advice on heavy duty drill

Hello,

I need advice on this heavy-duty, 23 mm morse taper drill with 1100W maximum power and 500 RPM no load speed. I have a good sturdy drill stand which fits this drill. Since I have never used a morse taper drill, I need opinion whether it has any advantage in drilling metal over a standard 1/2 HP chucked drill press. Thank you!

Short answer, yes. That the drill is held more securely is why most industrial machines are MT

Thanks Jack! I like the drill (it weighs 19 lbs) and I am getting it at a low price.

Whatever you drill into,make sure it's clamped down tight,as the torque from the electric drill,will be considerable.

Thanks! I will be using an 8" vise bolted to the stand for holding the workpiece.
