I have a 36x36 shop. By this weekend, concrete will be about 45 days old. It was supposed to be 5.5 inch slab, but was likely closer to 5 inches. All but a few days, the building has been closed up. I air it out when I can. The concrete still has some dark gray coloring in a few spots.....is that moisture remaining, or just how it’ll be colored? Do you think it’s dry enough to go ahead and stain?
I want to water based stain, then put a clear sealer. The surface is very smooth, and when I put a little water on it, it sinks in somewhat slowly....maybe takes a full minute to sink in.
Advice on surface prep before staining? Should I acid etch?
It’s hard for me to believe that there’s much difference in the brands of water based stain, but I suppose their could be. The closest place to me is Sherwin-Williams, but there is a specialty store 40 miles away, and I could ship off and spend extra money getting something shipped. For just a personal shop floor, does the brand of stain make much difference?
