I recently picked up a KR58. According to an old catalog I have it is a KR-58B.

I sanded down the exterior and am preparing it for paint.
Should I paint the outside the color I want and leave the inside original? (It shows wear in a couple drawers. Scratches and dirt.) Orshould I did assemble it and paint the entire thing the same color?

It is just gonna be mounted in my Jeep. I am thinking of painting it the same color as my Jeep.

Matching your jeep would be cool. Outside only repaints look lazy to me.

FYI, if what you have is truly a KR58, it will be destroyed riding around in your jeep loaded with tools. The 50s and 60s top boxes, which is what the KR58 is, were rather fragile and need to be on a flat, level, stable surface. They lack the torsional stiffness in all planes for a over the road use box.

Looks like I will refinish it and rethink my road box. Only things I was gonna keep in it was a socket set and screwdrivers/pliers.

That's a good idea. It would rattle like crazy in the Jeep and drive you mad, until it destroys itself like zkling says.. Better to use a small carry box or a tool roll in the Jeep, then you can take all the tools round to the engine bay wherever you need them.
