I am adding lights on the outside of my garage door and I am seeking suggestions on waterproofing the backsides of the lights where it mounts to the siding. I live where it rains about 14 inches a year, not a lot but enough to be concerned. As you can see from the siding there is a raised area in the center so parts of the backing plate isn’t flush against the siding. See attached photos. If anyone needs further information please let me know.IMG_9628.jpeg

As a follow-up, I was thinking of adding some closed cell foam along the perimeter of the backside of light. See attached example.

Fill the grooves in the siding with some wood strips and epoxy about an inch or two above the top of the light fixture, paint and carefully caulk the fixture to the wall on its top and half way down the sides.
