Getting ready to place an order for electrical cable to run out to my barn for a 100amp sub panel.

Looking at buying 2/0-2/0-1-4 Aluminum Mobile Home Feeder Cable
Did all my calculations and this is what i believe is the best choice would just like some feed back on my choice.

Length of run is 250ft
Planning on using an 80amp breaker from my 200amp panel
Running in 2" conduit
2/0= conductors
-1= neutral
-4= ground

Any advice or reassurance would be greatly appreciated

That will work just fine and voltage drop will be less than 3%.

U could use a 100a breaker and even at maximum load VD will be about 3.3%.

Domt forget 2 rods and an isolated neutral bus.

U will also need a main disconnect if u will have more than 6 breaker handles

My only worry is will i have a hard time connecting the 2/0 wire to a 100amp breaker?

So i will need a main disconnect before the sub panel if i have more then 6 breakers within the barn? is this correct and if so can the disconnect be located inside below the panel?

Ok, after thinking about it for a minute, i thought he must mean the main breaker within the panel, i just misunderstood at first.

Its actually a 150amp panel, which is nice because its larger with more space within the box.

I be getting this wire ordered tonight hope to have it before thanksgiving weekend so i can get all this installed and get some lights on before the snow comes.

U should be able to look up the max size wire for the particular breaker u will be using.

If the wire wont fit, u could splice to #1 Al or use reducer pins IF u have the proper crimp tools.
