Advice pls re Lista cabinets

Hello all,

I'm in the process of moving from a large garage and workshop down to a small one car garage approx. 3.2m x 6.9m (or 10.5' x 22.6'). I don't know how this happened but it's too late to turn back now.

One thing I'm looking at doing to make it more palatable is to rid myself of a lot of the various bits and pieces I've accumulated over the years in the way of tool boxes and cabinets and to move as much as possible into higher quality cabinets. I have something like Steevo's workbench in mind for the rear 3.2m wall if I can muster the skills to fabricate what I want.

I've sourced two Lista cabinets here in Aus at scratch and dent rates and although they're not what I'd order if I ordered new the savings is probably not to be sneezed at. I think I've got a pretty good deal on offer despite the minor damage, but what has just come to light is the fact that the drawers are all 75kg as opposed to 200kg. Is this likely to be an issue for the average Joe who doesn't intend loading the drawers up with heavy parts? I'm only ever likely to fill these with fixings and hardware and as many of my tools as will fit. Nothing bigger than hand-held power tools, I suspect. Is durability of the lesser-rated cabinets and drawers something worth worrying about?

Cheers in advance.

Regards,

James

If they are the 28" deep cabinets then I feel they will be fine.
The problem I had with the standard toolboxes is the size /depth of the drawers. Not big enough for most of my items so I tend to cram things and so the drawers end up bending and some parts fall behind and down the cabinet.

If anyone near me is interested I get LISTA cabinets from time to time 11-15 drawer, 675 ponds each. I'm in lower Michigan. I just sold 7 of them as a group for $3,300. Condition is great with all the dividers and trays.

BAC Systems seems to be the Australian equivalent to Lista and has a showroom down in Coomera. Grays auctions often have BAC cabinets, but most seem to be in pretty used condition.

Thanks afie. Will check them out. Although it's as good as a done deal following a conversation I had on Friday.

Maxxplanck, if only I could! The shipping would be a killer.

The cabinets I'm looking at are 725mm deep, so that depth is about right akdiesel.

For those who are interested, I've been told that the only difference between the 75kg units and the 200 kg ones is the runners on the drawers. The cabinets and drawer bodies are exactly the same. Meaning that if you needed to upgrade a drawer for a specific reason you still could.

The Lista cabinets may have the lighter weight limit because of the width of the cabinet. The NW cabinets, 12" have the 165lb slides and the MP cabinets, 18" can have the 165lb or the 440lb slides . The SC and wider, 24" have the 440lb slides.

I just purchased 10' of Lista and my 165lb slides are just fine, I have a 2" high drawer full of hardware and it glides smooth.

Here is a link for the Junkyard Specials for Lista. I sure the shipping to AUS is a deal breaker but you can still look!
