I love my 90* CP, this is my new one, I had been borrowing one for a long while now and decided to get one for myself, great tool for a reasonable price

more details on what you want to use it for would help you find a better answer. if general use the Makita 4.5 inchers are hard to beat and just check your version of Craigslist because on all the time around here for around $50. of course there are better and bigger options but your use will depend on that. give more details and you might find the right one for you. good luck

Electric or pneumatic? As far as electric goes...I like the dewalt 4 1/2 angle grinder. A little heavy for some....but it is a tank and I have used and abused mine for years.
As a tilesetter...I used it to cut cement backer board daily for years. Tile cuts...etc..
and I mean abused.

I assume you are looking for a pneumatic die grinder.
Get a big compressor.
I have a Sioux die grinder I got off of ebay cheap and I love it. Parts are available and it is powerful. It isn't heavy but it feel substantial in my hand.
Get a big compressor
I am trying to get a Dotco cheap right now. They are supposed to be really good.
Get a big compressor.

Did I mention that you will want to get a big compressor?

That Aircat angle grinder is made in Taiwan. The following Aircat tools are assembled in Spokane, WA (USA) using parts sourced from Taiwan: 1000-TH, 1150, 1355-XL, 1375-XL, 1300-TH. Everything else is made in Taiwan.

If you don't want any Asian made stuff, feel free to mail your angle grinder to me. It's a great tool, regardless of its COO.

I've got an Aircat 6255 and love it. Very quiet. $75 from Amazon w/free Prime shipping. I keep a 3" roloc holder on it.

Also have a $10 one from HF that always has a 2" holder on it. Other than making you deaf it's been fine too.

I've read these cheap ones are air hogs but honestly I don't see a lot of difference in them.

The expensive ones (more powerful) generally have higher CFM specs than the cheapos. If you don't have a BIG compressor getting a half horsepower die grinder won't help.

My 60 gallon compressor is rated at about 12 cfm at 90 PSI. It just keeps up with 5-6 CFM "rated" tools. The dotco's are rated above 10 cfm

I'm running a Snap-On PT110 I bought for cheap and repaired. Used it all the time with a Roloc bristle disc. Made in USA, but crazy expensive new (PT110A).

Most of what you'll find is going to be Made in Taiwan, that's just the way it is. All the tool trucks besides Snap-On are just re-branding other manufacturer's stuff, and even the last Sioux grinder I sold was Taiwan.

That said, best to try to find one with the cover on it like the Aircat above. They get cold after running for a while, which can get uncomfortable if you're not wearing gloves.

I have a made overseas Sioux that had the plastic cover over the body. Bought brand new, the plastic cover split and fell off literally within the first few uses. Other than that it works great.

I have a blue point at118. It's worked well for when I've needed it. I prefer the plastic covered body because the metal bodies get really cold when you use them for a long period of time.

I have one of the ones from harbor freight. I maybe paid 10 or 15 bucks back in the day and I can't complain. It's great for what I need it for and it's around 10 years old atleast. Can't beat that in my opinion

so I think its safe to say I have to go with a made in taiwan version. since all north american stuff is extremly over priced.

you want a DOTCO 10L1200B.......12,000RPM 0.3HP

buy it used, the new price will cause heart failure (~$700:scared:)

get an old one WITHOUT the OSHA trigger......they ****

I have 2 angle head DOTCOs, one always has a 3" sanding disc on it the other a fine wire brush

also a 30,000RPM straight 1 for cleaning aluminum for welding

and a long shank for porting heads:thumbup:

the long shank I bought new in '75 and it's done a lot of heads/weld prep

last angle head one was purchased in a pawn shop with a
CP-734H 1/2" impact
CP 3/8" butterfly

with the foil stickies still on all 3, cost $45

that was $1,000+ worth of tools for $45

Snap On's new 1 HP ones are the best bang fo the buck you can get on a high powered die grinder. I bought the right angle cut off tool using the same motor and it can't be stalled. It was pretty cheap for its size/power too, about $275.

Dynabrade makes the best money can buy. I have a true 1 HP in line long shaft medium RPM one I bought. It was kind of expensive, about $750, but is absolutely worth it if you need the power. I like that you can order whatever RPM you want for proper speeding of your tooling.
Here is there die grinder line

I have countless Garbage Freight inline and right angle $10 grinders. For the money, they are the best deal anywhere. They are disposable, but do many jobs well. I like them because I can leave them set up with one type of tool and not tie any other tools up.
