Advise needed on Autel OBD scanners

looking to get myself a higher end tool.

I would like one that has tpms features.

I was thinking the MS906ts which is around $2000cnd

but then I was thinking maybe get the lower
MS808 (around $1000cnd) with the TS601 ($400cnd) unit separately. your thoughts?

I have the 808 and so far I really like it. I’ve used it to pull codes on a Chevy, & two Fords. I’ve used it to help bleed the brakes on a Chevy Silverado and a Buick Regal TourX. It is pretty easy to use, prolly has more functionality than I really need.

No point in getting the TS601 over the TS501...the 601 just adds other regular cheap scan tool functionality to the TPMS stuff. For TPMS alone, the TS501 does everything the TS601 does.

I have the MS906TS and love it. If you want to be able to program modules or update them, get the one up with the jbox. I sometimes wish I had but have only needed the jbox maybe 5 times.

I have the Autel 808 and love it. It has paid for itself several times over.

I use it on 4 Chevys a Honda and it works great. If you have an issue and call them...they have actual people that answer and are very helpful...

ts608 - tpms and scan tool all in one. Bluetooth vci. Only shortcoming is it is not bidirectional.

If you have a 808 or 906 scan tool, you could say the same thing about getting the TS501 instead of a TS408. The TS408 will read, activate, and clone/program sensors. When he comes across a dead sensor, he could pull the ID w/ the 808/906, then input it into the TS408 to clone the sensor since the TS408 will not read the data stream by itself.

You could more or less get a Techstream and a used Tech 2 for a couple of grand!!!

Do you work on other brands?

I have narrowed down on the mp808ts which has built in tpms price around 1300cnd
And the ms906ts also has tpms around 2300cnd

I have a Maxisys Pro (908S I think) for work and it does everything I've needed for imports and domestics including programming modules with the J2534 pass thru. The only big thing it lacks is a wide range of key programming, but it can do some. I've used it for several years and it replaced my Launch. If I had to replace it I would purchase the same or an updated model.

If you need to do programming (either sensors from ECU or ECU for sensors) the TS501/508 just make it so much easier. On my Lexus when I swap winters/summers I need to program the ECU with the new sensor values, it literally takes 2 minutes to walk around and scan each sensor and then plug in and code them....copying all 4 of those sensor pins each time would be such a pain.
