Advise on an Impact 1/2"

I am looking at getting a new impact! I was looking at the MG725 snap on and Mac tools newest one the AWP050! Those are the 2 i have hear a lot about! I am open to all ideas! I can get the MG725 with like 22 impact sockets new for 421.50 and the AWP050 alone for around $270! anyone own either one or another one from matco or IR? Thanks and love this site!

IR2135 has served me very well. Many others like it also, usually comes down to SO and IR....with some Nitro Cat fans thrown in too!

Ir 2135ti ... proven time and time again as a solid long time performer

Also might want to look at IR 231c

Matco's impacts are rebranded IRs,my MT1769A is a rebranded IR.My MT1769A has been a very good impact so far,trouble free and my dealer has not had one come back with a problem yet.

I Have a IR now and it has a lot of power but will not break away the lugs on 1 ton duallys that are torqued to like 220 ft lbs! Its about 4 or 5 years old and was just looking into a new more powerful one! And ideas of is the IR 2135 have that much power because the one i have looks just like it just cant think of the model number of it

Can you post up a picture of the gun? 220 ftlb should be a piece of cake, even for the original 2135.

I second or third the Earthquake if using for home or not all day continuously. It works great and has lots of power, but is a bit heavy.

I have two earthquakes and a 725 rarely do I use the SO! Take out the muffler packing and lookout, all for 70 bucks ! Its made in taiwan not china.

the Mac is actually a rebranded air cat - heard it straight from my mac guy. Given the options I would choose the Snap On, nothing compares to the feel. But in reality I would buy the IR, more affordable, just as capable and reliable.

Id got for the MG725 - I use one professionally on a daily basis. I also use my coworkers IR 2135 quite a bit too and like it as well, but i just prefer the feel of my 725.

Ya I am going to be a full time tech in may when i get out of school! Here is the one MG725 i was looking at because I get 50% off all snap-on tools in school or you could say i get the impacts for free! My question is that many say the Mg725 isnt as strong as they say it is and that a lot of the IR's are stronger! Being that i will be using it everyday would you get Snap-on or the IR for a little less money? Here is the link: and its $421.50 my cost! The IR 2135 is about $310

I'd go for that set, sounds like a good deal to me. My MG725 is plenty strong. I've broken loose crank bolts that I've seen the 2135 fail at.

I will have to raise the bullcrap flag on that one. The mg725 is stronger than the original 2135ti, but more or less the same as the 2135timax. I currently own 3 mg725, while having owned at least 4 2135ti and 2135qtimax. They are all powerful guns. I like the IR more since they're comfortable and balanced. If you can't break loose a bolt with one of the two guns, chances are you'll need a 3/4" impact.

Something is wrong with it or your air supply. I have a 20 yr old IR231 that will bust loose the lugnuts on my Peterbilt. They are torqed to 475 Ft lbs.

It takes a few seconds of hammering but they do come off.
