I'm doing my basement as my "man cave" area and would like to stain the the floor but it is not as smooth as I wanted to. Still undecided if I should rent a scarifier. Is there a pad available at least to smooth the floor I can use with my floor buffer? I have a floor buffer (got from old job) I use to clean all the mud and paint after finishing the wall and ceiling.... see pics. I have some small cracks but I think I will do nothing about it. Maybe just put more stain on it. The plan is stain, seal and wax. Any suggestions? If I can't smooth the floor maybe wax is out of the deal. Anyone heard or use this product... http://www.foundationarmor.com/armor-l3000-concrete-sealer/

If you are going to use and acid stain, you really need to be careful about how much top layer of the concrete that you remove. You should sand the concrete with a floor buffer, not use a scarifier. The acid stains react with the hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide) which is on the surface of your concrete. If you use a scarifier on the concrete you will remove that layer and the stain won't take.

The sealer you chose is a penetrating sealer. It will seal the floor leaving a matte finish that you can't really wax. Most indoor stained concrete is sealed with an acrylic sealer. It's a film forming sealer that lays on top of the concrete. It will deepen the color of your stain and give a glossy look depending on whether you use a solvent based or water based product. You can then wax it to protect the sealer.
