Advise on what to use

New member here,

Hoping y'all can steer me in the right direction. I've got a 250 soft garage, and a 500sqft garage. Along with my neighbor who has close to 700sqft, we are going to epoxy all garages.

Garages will be exposed to sunlight at least half the day.

Not scared of grinding the floors, as my small garage was done a decade ago with Rustoleum Epoxy Shield. I've moved all of my machinery to the big garage because I'm turning this into a home gym. The other garages will be taking a beating. Chemicals, and traffic of 1500lb+ machinery on casters.
Looking for recommendations on what to use. I'm going to do myself, and looking to spend around a $1sqft on product(realize I'm going to put more into renting grinder, and other materials.
Looking for a decade of no worries.
Advice is much appreciated.

I'll say it every time. Double broadcast quartz is going to be your best bet. It is expensive but it holds up.

> Grind floor to ICRI-CSP 2-4.
> Prime floor with epoxy, scuff sand, solvent wipe.
> Apply 100% solids epoxy @ 100 sq ft/gallon, broadcast quartz until rejection.
> Reclaim quartz by push broom and vacuum.
> Apply 100% solids epoxy @ 80-100 sq ft/gallon, broadcast quartz until rejection.
> Reclaim quartz by push broom and vacuum.
> Apply 2 coats of a clear polyurethane, polyaspartic, or polyurea.

Or to save some money, you can use silica sand (instead of decorative quartz) as your broadcast aggregate and use a pigmented poly- as your final top coat(s).

Or, to possibly save even more $, you can do a double broadcast flake system. Wont be *as strong* as the quartz, but will still be very robust!

Hey, I'm just trying to sell some paint! Lol..

I was mainly referring to the garages he mentioned that would take a beating with steel casters and machinery..

I am unaware of a product that will give "a decade of no worries" for $1.00 per sq ft. [emoji16]

Hi, our SPGX one part polyurea with Armorgrip High Wear non skid additive would be well under $1.00/ft for a single coat and give many, many years of dependable life. Easy to apply and super fast curing. In the event that a small area needs touch up in the years ahead (remember probably only 20-30%% of the floor sq footage will see real serious use), easy to do and inexpensive.

A 3 layer high build Armorclad 100% solids floor with Military Grade Topcoat would be south of $1.50/ft.

Totally agree that a double quartz is a top of the line floor but very $$$.

Yep, HF would be the best kit for the money. Not to mention it will cure down to 33°F!!

Correct. I'm mainly inquiring about the the small garage that I'm turning into a gym. Not worried about serious abuse.

I'm not really concerned about the price on the big garage, which will be taking a beating. I have already to a grinder to the small garage(gym). That was a chore, to say the least.
