AFCI breaker required in detached garage?

Another quick question that I hope has a simple answer. In a detached garage, is an AFCI breaker required to protect three exterior lights? One exterior light is beside the service door and two exterior lights are one either side of the roll up door. There is nothing else on this circuit.

Advice to me was that exterior lighting is required to be on a separate circuit and AFCI protected. The person did not seem to be 100% sure about a requirement for AFCI protection. I have been 5 places this morning and have had zero luck in locating an AFCI breaker. So, before I head 70 miles one way out of town to try and locate one it would be nice to know if it is, for sure, required by code.

Thanks

I think AFCI is only required on lighting circuits in dwelling units, but I may be mistaken.

I doubt you need one for your application (assuming the garage/shop isn't a dwelling unit).

It may differ by location. In Minn. I think not, but your receptacles must be tamper resistant.

I'm not sure but wouldn't think it is required by code for detached garage. I'm pretty sure I have a few unopened ones though if you need one. Let me know and I'll see if I can find them and with specs.

AFCI's are not required for a detached structure. GFCI's are required for all 15 & 20A 120V receptacles.

GFCI on first receptacle in all garages.. Lighting circuit not required as long as lighting only.
