I have a HP laser printer that keeps tripping the breaker in my office. Was just about to toss the printer when I came across a site where it was discussed that things with motors tend to cause these AFCI breakers to trip. Thought I would ask here and get some recommendations on what my options are and if this is infact true.

These breakers go bad all the time and when they do, they can be wonky.

I'd start by seeing if you have another AFCI breaker in the house. If so, swap them and then see if the problem goes away. If so, I'd think about replacing the one you swapped out.

try a different circuit first, if it still trips then you actually may have a bad power cable on the printer causing the fault.

I have have my share of afci issues in my house, hate those breakers, but it did catch one faulty appliance

I'll try another circuit tomorrow. I've narrowed it down to when I try to print over the network and haven't printed in a while. As soon as it starts to heat up and pull a paper through it trips at that exact time consistently. I have my 3d printer in the same room and it never does that. It has also happened with vacuums on that circuit.
