Affordable Deadblow Ball Peen Alternative?

Has anybody seen this mfg. of ball peen deadblows before? I was on Amazon looking at alternatives the very pricy Snappy/Trusty Cook... I'm almost tempted to pull the trigger for a whopping $11.95

Ok- what confuses me with Trusty is their sizing. Say I want a 32 oz deadblow ball peen is there 36 oz the the closest ? I'm really confused with their sizing.

The weight listed is the "total" weight of the hammer… typically hammer weight is just the head. A TCBP32 is a "32 oz" ball peen. Look at the last two digits in the part number.

I was considering Snap-On, but with the forum discount you can get 2 ball peens and a standard dead blow for less than the cost of SO 32oz bp. The only real differences I see on the Snap-On is the "torpedo" shaped peen-end (can't remember the last time I used that end) and addition of a rubber-cushion grip.

They also offer the "blems" to us GJ members at a really good price. I guess that's short for blemished, but they should be functionally perfect, just have cosmetic imperfections.

Edit: oops, just remembered they've said there'll be no blems in BP hammers, my mistake.

Just to clarify, the TCB32 has a 32 oz head, the entire hammer weighs 47 oz. So the model number is the head weight.

I didn't read it that way and I still don't read it that way. That is why I worded it the way I did.

I have one that looks identical to the one the op posted. I bought it from grizzly years ago and it has served me well.

I have also seen some confusion on hammer weights, particularly the Ball peens, the Part Number for our brand ends with the HEAD WEIGHT (not total weight) - example TCBP16 (head weight is 16 oz and total weight is 26 oz.) We did this years ago to comply to GSA (Military/Gov't) Contract Standards/Specs. Confusing I know, but the weights are accurate on our brand.

Let's just get it straight from the hammer horse's mouth.

You get what you pay for. This looks just like my Stanley Compocast. These were TC designs, sold to Stanley, possibly sold on to soneone else, now outdated.

Performance wise, Snap On advertises free flowing shot, which, in my experience, produces a nicer dead blow. My Stanley is barely different from a std ball peen.

All of these plastic hammers go bad eventually. Paying more and getting a lifetime warranty might be the wiser choice financially.

Snap On's plastic is harder and smoother than TC. Not a big deal, but may offer a bit better abrasion resistance. If you use your hammer for any length of time, you will appreciate Snap On's grip.

There are deals on Snap On hammers. I paid $75 total for 16, 24 and 32 oz std dead blows. Less than $50 for my 24oz ball peen. They are very nice hammers.

Snap On's Williams line is another alternative. I would readily buy new trusty cook. I hear their new models are good. If money is tight, buy an old USA ball peen hammer head at a flea market for $1 and make a new handle for it out of firewood.

Thy all have pluses and minuses. Snap on, Matco, are great cause they are lifetime warranty.. TC makes a good hammer they do but the warranty is not where the others is. The cheap ones well they work for a while if you use them for a living they all break eventually somehow. And those typically don't have any warranty at all but at the low price you can buy one every few years and be money ahead but most of these are just cheap *** imported hammers.

TC is awesome cause they are made in the USA here in my own state. Snap on are as well. Sure what state. Some of the Matco hammers are TC and carry a lifetime warranty, maybe could find a reasonable one on eBay not $12 though.

TC is here getting our feedback, offering a discount and putting neighbors to work making hammers for people like us. Good little company there

I've got a set from Astro Pneumatic that works fine for smashing things.

Wasn't pleased with the finish when they were new, but doesn't bother me now. Some kind of clear coat applied sloppily on the steel heads, and the grips looked rough/poorly moulded.

Plus for me that they are orange, which makes me happy ��.

Not sure if they are still available.

Previous thread - same / similar hammer

I ran across these today and cannot find any info about them. I have been wanting a set of dead blow ball peen hammers and thought for the price they may be worth a shot. Have any of you ever tried them?

Trusty Cook (respresentative on forum), said that even though the warrenty is only 2 yrs... they would evaluate claims on a case-by-case basis. I don't know why people get so caught up in warrenties... if their good tools and don't fail within a short period of time, likely they'll last the long haul. If they don't, you got good use and just buy another. Those lifetime warrenties come at a price... plus, they bank on most people not actually warrenting something 10+ years later.
