Affordable Garage Mat options

Hi All,

I'm looking for input on an affordable garage mat to catch snow melt / water from the car.

There appear to be great options from Garage Flooring that appear to be just what I need, just more than I can spend.

Any DIY improvements to a cheaper alternative that would do the job? Pics would be great.

In terms of aftermarket stuff, this article here covers many of the different options available for purchase.

We've seen some people that have made a cheap containment mat for snow melt by building a frame out of 1 x 2 lumber and draping it with a good tarp that is attached to the wood on the outside edges. The key is not to make it tight or it can rip. Most don't last longer than a winter though.

Probably would be good to list what you are willing to spend so anyone wanting to help out with a link will know if its worthwhile or not.

There are Rubber garage flooring mats at Costco that are cost effective, but I am not sure they are what you are looking for...

This is exactly what I am doing , I won't have more than $20 into it and maybe 1/2 hr time .
At the end of the winter , I trash the trap , no storage and clean floor and will have the lumber left for the next winter.

For containment I would suggest the AutoFloorGuard. We stock by the container load (3 so far this season) and it is one of those products they can never make enough of.
