...of silent reading here in the Forum and dreaming of my own workshop, I stopped dreaming an took a shovel (maybe it was an excavator shovel...) to start building...

Hello Forum,

my name is Adrian and I'm from Germany (please excuse my lumpy english). I would like to take you all with me on my concrete road down to my own workshop, but therefore I need at least 5 posts in the forum.
So this is no. 1...

As I know, lots of you have been through various parts of the country but I assume no one was near my location. Or maybe you were, but are still today not allowed to talk about it.
I live north east of the Fulda Gap. So maybe it was only a point on your secret map...

I grew up under the nose of the Blues and Royals, The Queen's Own Hussars, 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards, so more of Chieftain and Challenger 1 Tanks.

As life plays, I now live amongst the remains of the Headquarter of the "3. General Redbanner-Army (russian 3-я общевойсковая Краснознамённая армия/3-ja obschewoiskowaja krasnosnamjonnaja armija, or short 3. A)".

It is quiet astonishing how deeply this sowjet presence has carved itself into the landscape of this area. A large area in the middle of the city Magdeburg is still today no building area because of burried explosives and ammunition. The russian troops just dumped the stuff in big unmarked holes when they left. No one likes to hit that with an excavator...
