More info on how you made the wrench holder please. That seems like it would work very well is my basement.

I actually took the board apart so I will get a picture of the board without the hooks today. I didn' t use it once I made the drawers under the bench.

The important thing is if you want the look of mine you have to find a siding supplier like gentek and get a piece of "mill finish" capping coil. It is used by the window cappers should be relatively cheap and easy to work with.

Great stuff, dood. I need to build a rack for my plastic parts trays, too- are those sheetmetal dividers just stuck into kerfs in the side walls? I'd imagine that to be flimsy, but yours don't look like they're deflecting at all. Any beads or stiffeners on them?

Just 18 gauge galvanized with no stiffeners.
1/8" hardboard was my second choice.
Whichever way you go, lay the 3 pieces of wood side by side and cut the kerfs across all 3 pieces at the same time using a guide.

Good Morning here is the break-down of the board as I am not using it now.
Its 3/4" plywood cladded in a thin gauge aluminum (.020) its called mill-finish and you get it from a siding company or window cladder. Its pretty cheap and I even used it in a modern kitchen as baseboards. It looks like stainless.
Then I laid out my tools on it and used small L-hooks pre-drilled and screwed in. I also had to trim some of the L-hooks for the smaller wrenches.

I have a small metal brake for the bending bud you could possibly crease it and fold it over.
I also just used real aluminum duct tape as the board was meant to go into a cabinet which I ended up making smaller and the edges wouldn't be seen.
Sorry these pictures are horrible as my new case covers the lens sometimes.

Last night my son was in the garage and he wanted to help so I took a scrap metal frame I scavenged and 4 legs with casters i brought 7 years ago from my move to the Prairies, and we made this bench to replace the crappy HD saw stand which is a pain to move around in a tight spot.
I also wanted a home for my portable saw underneath as I took my cabinet saw to my shop as the Dewalt one has been perfect for any project so far.
In about 30 minutes we had it up and rolling. We just screwed it all together as I want to live with it for a bit before I commit to welding it.
Today I will fab up some type of hook or holder for the two outfeed rollers to act as side supports for long work. They will go on the side and be available if I need to use them with the table saw.

I needed a new decent-size garbage can in the shop so my local speed shop gave me this used Mobil 1 half-barrel, which is the size I was after.
So my son has been bugging to use the race stickers he collected at all the summer show and shines and also from the parts I bought.
So he got to work last night after we finished the bench, after I cleaned off any sign of grease or oil, I showed him how to usehe sanded it down, I painted it and he then finished it off with the stickers. He was all "high fives" and proud of his work. So was I .

Had a great surprise today. Yesterday I asked my production manager if he could make me a top for my new rolling table in a matching red steel.
This guy is a magician with metal, not to mention he builds most of our machinery.

He came in today with this cap for the table, I couldn't wait to go home and try it out... Fit like a glove.

Now I don't want to drill through it to mount these items.

I added the roller stands to the side of my chop saw table. Sometime I will figure out how to hold them out for long material and throw out the bungee cords.

Love this time of year...
I had a half day off, relaxed then spent a few hours tidying up the electrical.
I tried a few coats of brite red paint on the receptacle covers and got pretty good results. I also ran a couple of nested steel studs to hide the wire and act as a backsplash.

Also managed to paint two walls a light grey. It took 3 coats to hide the shadows of old. Tomorrow i am putting up a couple of shelves and some artwork.

The cladding is quite tight, sometimes to a fault. I am not known to be accurate (working on it), but leaving a little wiggle room helps. Its part of our industry, soffit and fascia and cladding installers are usually dealing with variations in the substrate theyre working on. Some of the wood used on new construction come "pre-warped" from factory and so we usually "float" soffit in the soffit-j then the fascia floats over the other edge of the soffit.
So because of this I chose to do this style of cladding so every overlap can hide the imperfection under it.

This is what I made today. Its just a sheet of aluminum over a 3/8" osb 24"x48" then a soffit-j all around the perimeter with the rivets locking it.

All 6 are done but only had enough rollers for 5. I left a bit of an overhang for hiding some strip lighting and also the hardware behind it. I took another day off tomorrow, so i can get rid of the ceiling racks and the accumulated garbage on the floor.

I managed to plug away a bit more today. I rearranged the main 8 ft fluorescents and prepared to add a couple more lights and finish wiring plugs this weekend.

My little boy's favorite character from Cars is Francesco. On the wall is his little electric go kart. Because of the snow he can't drive it now so tomorrow morning he will be excited to see him on the wall and I'm exited to get him off the floor.
I finished the lights today. This week I will split the circuit so I don't turn them all on when I just go in and out.

Started on the last wall cabinet. This one will be easily removable if i need access to the subpanel. It will be 20" rather than 30" like the other 2. I will also use peg board (maybe).
It hides what I can't move anymore. I also found a spot at the side of the counter where I can install the hose real (remembered the hose in 12 Gauge Garages's workbench)

Had a late start tonight, but I got the door for the last cabinet done and riveted.
Tomorrow I will have the piano hinge on and maybe the inside cladding.

That workbench that you see is one of the first I built using a solid core door and two small file cabinets. I made it 36 " deep and I hate it. I will cut it down as it impedes walking on the other side of the truck.

Tonight I finished the last wall cabinet. Well not completely. I still don't know how I'll finish the inside. Had a couple of leftover handles and maybe tomorrow I'll buy a couple more.
I installed the air hose reel on the side of the bench in a dead spot and it works great. On the bench is the first of my eBay purchases. It's a counter mat of the breakdown of my sks rifle. I also ordered a Glock mat and Beretta 92 version.
I like how they look on the red.
I also cut down the rolling bench to 26" depth and put the metal brake on it behind the truck.

I welded up 3 brackets to go under my overhead storage. I want to get rid of all the ceiling racks I had built and any long pieces I want to keep will go in this new rack. Stuff like redirod and long hinges etc. Hidden but close by.

I love your work, those doors... I think that is an awesome compact rack, I wish I had a ceiling. My shop is a pole barn, and we need a rack badly, but have yet to design something.

I have been organizing at work which is like a pole barn inside . We have all types of steel and welders and sometimes I just throw something together and see if it works. We have a space issue and we try to get everything off the floor so overhead racks work really well

Here's what I did with the little brackets i made. They're under the overhead cabinets just to hold some longer items I want to keep close by and not in storage. As you can see the back of the sliding doors hide the racks.

So I got the last countertop done for the rolling table that I cut down. I gave my buddy the measurements that the table was going to be, he made the top accordingly, I on the other hand cut the table wrong.
Lucky for me I cut it bigger by an inch. Fix it Saturday!
