I'm about to pull the trigger on a couple of tool cabinets but the lack of availability of replacement parts for the 56" unit is steering me towards the 44" unit. I Don't want to start another 44 vs 56 battle. I will eventually put a top box on the 56 because I have thoroughly looked it over and believe it could take another box on top with at least a light load. The 44" unit would ultimately cost me quite a bit of storage capacity for the space that I have available.

Does anyone know of a source for adequate replacement slides for the 56" unit? I guess while we are on the topic, does anyone know of a compatible upgrade for the 44" unit's slides?

My HF used to have them right in the store saw them on a bottom shelf just sitting there. Dont know if they still have them or not I will look when I drop by there today I will also check with the manager while I am there and let you know. Could call HF tech and see if they will send them to you.

This is what was in my TECH 1000 MAc box. halfof them had to be replaced, but they were 15 years old and used daily by a mechanic.

All steel construction.

All of the rack mounted PC servers used Accuride slides before they went to the clip on style.
Those servers are heavy.

+1 Accuride, they are built good. Used them when custom garage units, drawers hold a lot of weight. I think they are your best choice and what I will use for my Mac/SO when the time comes.
