So my brother in law bought a place that has a 40 x64 building that was used for equipment storage. One 64' side is open. The posts on the open side are 16' oc rest of the building is 8' oc. Looking for methods to close up the open side, considering cutting the slab and adding posts to make the walls, also considering framing the walls on the slab. I am concerned about the slab moving with the walls attached to it. He is in Ohio so there is a freeze thaw issue. One bay will end up with a roll up door not sure what size yet. Any other ideas? Not thrilled with cutting the slab and dropping in posts but also want something that will work without issues.

Its obviously already standing with the posts it has. Additional stuff will likely be curtain wall in nature and to hold any door jambs and will only strengthen the headers. I might be tempted to bolt some clip angles down for the posts and call it a day.

Just build the walls in between the posts, use PT 2x6's for the sill boards. Any "movement" will be very minimal and will not affect the walls as they are right on the slab. My shop was finished this way in the late 80's and I have not seen any problems in30 years. I am in MI. and it gets plenty cold up here as well... Nothing to worry about in my book.

Thanks for confirming what I was thinking, 25 years ago I would have built the walls with pt sill plates shot them down with a hilti fastened the sides etc and moved on. Now with the internet it can make you second guess what you have done before.
