Age of Klein Cutters

I have an old pair of Klein diagonal cutters I am trying to find the year made. The date code is C-M-E, which translates to 7-1-4. If the first number is the quarter, how could it be 7? I get that the next 2 numbers would be 14, for 1914. Am I doing this wrong?

Alloy artifacts says "there were actually two date code systems in use over the period from the early 1900s to 1972. The earlier system was a simple "MM-YY" code giving the month and year of production."

So yours are from July 1914.

I also have an old pair of Klein Linesman pliers. They are 201-8 with a date code of 2 RJ. Any idea on the age of these?

Thanks for the reply. If I’m reading this correctly, this flyer doesn’t give a date code for a 2RJ? I know the “2” would be 2nd quarter & the “9” would be from the 90’s but there is no mention of “J”. Also I believe these pliers are pre 1990. Any thoughts anyone?
