Age of this Cman socket set?

Just won these on eBay. I'm 19 and I think these could be about my age or older. Anyone have an idea? Just curious, I don't really care .


Got them for about $30. Figured it was fair since they're USA, about the same price as Gearwrench or new China Craftsmans would be. Now just need to get 1/2" dr version.

do a search for craftsman date codes. You should find a thread with a chart listing the codes and their corresponding year.

There should be a two digit code by the part number like GK, VV, VJ etc. match your code to the chart and you'll know the age.

I bought some socket sets in the mid-to-late 90's that came in that style packaging. So, yes, I would venture to guess that that set could be about the same age as yourself. That is, the packaging, at least, since it clearly has been opened and handled.

I second the recommendation of checking the codes on the sockets once you receive them in order to properly answer your question.

The date code will likely be G, G2, or an upside-down version of either.
Possibly even a mix of those codes like my sets.

I have two shallow 12 point sets also from 90s. They're nice sets. I like them.
